Colette Violet Blouse

Pattern Deets:
Colette patterns Violet blouse.
The fabric is a Dangerfield fabric I bought from their warehouse when I was in Melbourne recently (think it was $6 a metre). It is a red silk with kittens on the front.

Affections/objections:
I love the end result of this shirt – it was very easy to make and although I originally had concerns about the shape of the blouse (I like my clothes a little more fitted) I remained faithful to the pattern and was happy I did so at the end.

Modifications:
Instead of making a fabric collar I used some gorgeous vintage trim I’ve had floating about in my sewing room for yonks.
Due to my fabric being quite sheer I also lined the front of the blouse only using an underlining method.
Vintage buttons from my Husband's Nan's stash

Would you sew it again? And tell others to?
Without a doubt. This is the perfect pattern for anyone looking to add a staple to their wardrobe. This pattern is easy enough for beginners to extend themselves without dramas and for advanced seamstresses to stitch up quickly.
If you have a machine with one step buttonhole function this is an easy dream to make.

Wrap it up!
Colette does great patterns and this one is no different – it is easy to make adjustments to it so it looks like a different pattern each time and is a cute pattern that could easily be made in a variety of fabrics to give it a different look. I think the next one will be out of cute quilting fabric for winter.
This pattern is for sale in my online store or sewing lounge for $19.

  2. Love the fabric and the vintage trim! I'm hoping to try and sew a few more clothes for myself this year, the Colette Sorbetto will be first on the list - have you tried it?
