Pattern
Deets:
New
look 6909 sheath dress will collar options. This particular view has side tabs and buttons, a standing collar and bow and pleated sleeves.
Affections/objections:
I
love the retro feel to this sheath dress and the fact that it has just a teeny
bit more interest than a shift dress. The back has a diamond dart which I like
as it pulls the dress in to give you a bit more shape.
This
particular pattern has a couple of neckline/pocket options which makes it quite
versatile.I loved the bow at the standing collar and the sleeves are fairly simple, but look interesting due to the pleats
Modifications:
I
mixed and matched a couple of the views as I really liked the neckline and bow
but didn’t want to add the front pockets.
Would you
sew it again? And tell others to?
Yeah!
I’m planning on making this again in a beautiful pink wool I’ve had in my
cupboard waiting for winter.
Wrap it up!
Like most New Look patterns, there is a lot of
ease in this and for a sheath style pattern you need it a bit closer fitting so
be aware of that. Also beware of the length if you do like things to sit on the knee you will find this too short - I wanted it to sit exactly where it was sitting without any hemming.
Otherwise it is a well drafted pattern that could be anything
from a short, fitted night time dress to a longer work appropriate dress and sews up pretty quickly for some instant gratification!
Ohhh love that fabric!!
ReplyDeleteLove all of the little details.
