Burda 7494 aka So damn cute I wanna eat it!

This is the ever so popular Burda 7494 which is basically a two part dress (separate bodice and skirt) with a boat neck with darts and Peter Pan collar.I am a fool for pastel blue and pink together, there is just something so delicious about it so when I saw this fabric I knew I had to have it,even though I potentially was going to end up looking like a curtain. I used this pattern for it because I knew it needed a bit of a block colour on it somewhere to break it up and who ISN'T obsessed with peter pan collars? or is that just me?...

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes it did, although my neckline sits a little wider than shown, although of course that could be because of my body shape.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were - I find printed Burda patterns the best due to the techniques they use, they understand not everyone wants to hand stitch half their dress (ahem, vogue, I'm talking to you)
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Like: Easy to follow instructions, interesting use of darts, no pattern drafting errors, not a whole lot of ease either so it fit nicely to the measurements on the pattern.
Dislike: Nothing to dislike really... its cute and sews up super quick - my favourite flavour!

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For me this pattern is like a unicorn or the perfect man, pretty hard to find - but it was the perfect fit first time! it does exist! I did change a few things about the pattern though;
The back pleats add a substantial amount of bulk that on a butt my size, does NOT need any help so I changed them (after sewing) to be normal darts. I also changed the back skirt split to a vent as I find that much more stable.
Watch for the amount of fabric in the corners of the neckline - it is so thick due to facing, interfacing, collar and dress fabric. Grade your seams and pink and clip and be vigilant otherwise it will sit funny.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and YES. I love it, its so gorgeous I'm changing this to a food blog and eating it for dinner!!
Conclusion:
A great go to pattern that will give you the instant gratification you need to keep feeling inspired.
